Sao Paulo, Nov 10: Lando Norris tightened his grip on the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship with a commanding victory at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix on Sunday, marking his second straight win after triumphing in Mexico City.
Starting from pole, the British driver cruised to his seventh win of the season, finishing more than 10 seconds ahead of Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, who claimed a career-best second place. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen completed the podium in third, narrowly behind Antonelli.
With 33 points from the race, Norris extended his championship lead to 24 points over McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, who finished fifth after serving a 10-second penalty for a collision that took Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc out of the race.
“Just focus on yourself and the team,” Norris said after the win. “McLaren are doing an amazing job giving me a great car. We’re pushing hard every weekend—it’s so rewarding.”
George Russell took fourth place to stay fourth in the standings, while Ferrari endured a disappointing outing as both Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton retired mid-race. The result dropped Ferrari to fourth in the Constructors’ Championship.
With three races remaining, Norris leads with 390 points, followed by Piastri (366) and Verstappen (341).
