Mumbai, Nov 11: Actor Vipin Sharma, known for his powerful screen presence, takes on a compelling new role in the latest season of Maharani on SonyLIV. Playing the sharp and strategic Prime Minister Sudhakar Sriniwas Joshi, Sharma says he knew instantly that the part demanded a “different level of commitment.”
“When I was offered the script, I realised this was going to be huge because it’s a brilliantly written season,” says Sharma, who joins Huma Qureshi and Shweta Basu Prasad in the political drama’s fourth instalment.

Stepping into an already successful series brought its share of nerves. “I wanted to prepare extra. I made sure I bring something to the table and not just come in as another actor,” he shares. Determined to challenge himself, Sharma worked with an international coach, adopting the Harold Guskin method — a Hollywood approach that focuses on “taking the text off the pages.”
“It was not just about remembering lines. It was about making your lines part of your body. It gave me an opportunity to relook at my process,” he explains.
Despite decades in the industry, Sharma believes learning never ends. “We become our own clichés — that’s the scariest part,” he admits. “Every project pushes me to evolve. I didn’t want to let anyone down.”
Portraying a Prime Minister, he says, also taught him an unexpected lesson in dignity and grace. “For example, on set, I’d be told, ‘Sir, you stay there, they will come to you.’ That allowed me to respect that space. I tried to bring my honesty and commitment to it. I hope I keep finding new ways to look at things,” he reflects.
Beyond acting, Sharma is also delving into writing and direction. His current project is a script based on Advaita Vedanta. “The whole universe has one source of energy. We are not what the world makes us,” he says, hinting at a philosophical exploration that matches his creative depth.
