Mumbai, Nov 12: Filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar has responded to Amitabh Bachchan’s recent remarks about feeling like a ‘nausikhiya’ (amateur) during the shoot of Lakshya, revealing that the misunderstanding stemmed from his nervousness as a debutant director rather than any intent to “teach” the legendary actor.
Speaking on Aap Ki Adalat, Farhan recalled the incident that took place on the first day of shooting in an Army cantonment. “It was my first film as a director, and the environment was extremely time-bound. I was under pressure to complete the shoot within the allotted schedule. When Mr. Bachchan was taking time with his performance, I simply wanted to check if he was comfortable or facing any difficulty. My intention was to make things smoother on set,” he explained.

Farhan admitted that his enthusiasm may have come across differently to Big B. “It’s possible that he may have felt offended — a young director asking if he needed help. I realised later that my approach might have hurt him, and I apologised. My only goal was to ensure efficiency, not to correct him,” he said.
Earlier, during an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, Amitabh Bachchan had shared how the moment made him emotional. “Farhan came to my room and asked if I was facing any problem. For a moment, I felt like an amateur being taught how to act,” he said. Big B revealed that he later told his wife, Jaya Bachchan, about the incident, to which she responded, “If you’re not happy, come back.” However, the veteran actor added that after that day, the rest of the shoot went smoothly, and he enjoyed working with Farhan.
Released in 2004, Lakshya starred Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, and Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal roles. Though it underperformed at the box office, the war drama went on to earn cult status over the years for its powerful performances and patriotic theme.
On the work front, Farhan Akhtar will next be seen in 120 Bahadur, where he plays Major Shaitan Singh, alongside Raashii Khanna and Vivian Bhatena. The film, directed by Razneesh Ghai, is slated for release on November 21.
Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan continues to host Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 and will next appear in the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, also starring Prabhas and Kamal Haasan. The film is expected to go on floors in December.
