Mumbai, Nov 8: A 38-year-old man lost his life early Thursday after his scooter rammed into a JCB machine illegally parked on a no-parking zone along Zakaria Bunder Road in Sewri. Police have booked the JCB’s driver and owner for causing death by negligence.

The victim, Swapnil More, was on his way home to Lalbaug after attending a family dinner at Wadala Sports Club when the accident occurred around 1 a.m. near Crypton Tower.

According to a complaint filed by his father, Chandrakant Parashuram More (67), a retired branch manager of GIC Finance, the JCB (MH 03 ER 7026) had been parked in a hazardous position along the roadside, obstructing the traffic flow.

Swapnil, who was riding an Activa scooter, suffered severe injuries on impact. He was rushed to KEM Hospital, but doctors declared him dead before admission.

The Sewri Police have registered a case under Sections 304A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving), and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the Indian Penal Code, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, against the yet-to-be-identified driver and owner of the JCB machine.
