Vikram Bhatt faces Rs 30 cr fraud case, calls charges baseless

Udaipur, Nov 18: Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has been booked in an alleged Rs 30 crore fraud case in Udaipur, with an FIR also naming his wife Shwetambari Bhatt and six others. The complaint was filed by Dr Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira IVF, at Bhupalpura Police Station.

As per the FIR, Dr Murdia was allegedly induced to invest over Rs 30 crore after being assured that a proposed film would earn profits of nearly Rs 200 crore. The project was reportedly presented as a biopic meant to honour his late wife. Names such as Mehboob and Dinesh Kataria have also been included among the accused.

Responding to the allegations, Vikram Bhatt told NDTV that he became aware of the FIR only on Monday and dismissed all charges as false.

“I have read the FIR, and in my view, it is misleading. The police have been completely misguided because the things written in the FIR are absolutely wrong,” Bhatt said.

He further alleged that fabricated documents may have been used to support the complaint. “It’s obvious that he must have created some forged papers. I don’t know what exactly, but there must be something he used to convince the police,” he added.
Police are yet to release an official statement regarding the probe.
