Chennai, Nov 19: Director Vikarnan Ashok’s much-anticipated Tamil action entertainer Mask, starring Kavin in a never-before-seen avatar, has officially been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A rating. The film is set for a global theatrical release on November 21.

Production banner Black Madras Films shared the update on X, announcing, “Mask certified U/A. Ready to storm theatres on November 21.”

Insiders reveal that Andrea Jeremiah, who is also co-producing the film, will feature as the primary antagonist — marking yet another powerful negative role after her acclaimed performance in Vetri Maaran’s Vada Chennai.

Mask reportedly showcases Kavin in a full-fledged action role for the first time, a shift that has already stirred excitement among fans. Early posters sparked speculation about a cameo by director Vetri Maaran, thanks to the repeated phrase “Vaathiyaaraga Vetri Maran.” However, the film’s first single confirmed that he serves as a creative mentor rather than an on-screen teacher.

The project boasts an impressive technical crew, featuring National Award-winning composer G.V. Prakash Kumar for music and celebrated cinematographer R.D. Rajashekar behind the camera. Editing duties are handled by Ramar, with art direction by Jacki and Vijay Iyyappan.

Jointly produced by Andrea and S.P. Chockalingam, Mask will be presented under Vetri Maaran’s Grassroot Film Company, adding to the film’s already strong buzz in Tamil cinema circles.
