Girija Oak highlights need for emotionally aware parenting ahead of ‘Perfect Family’ release

Mumbai, Nov 23: Actress Girija Oak, who will soon be seen in the upcoming streaming series Perfect Family, has opened up about the critical role emotionally aware and informed parenting plays in shaping a child’s well-being.

A new promo released on Sunday features Girija as Neeti Karkaria in the series, which stars Manoj Pahwa, Seema Pahwa, Neha Dhupia, and Gulshan Devaiah. The show delves into how childhood experiences—both nurturing and traumatic—shape individuals later in life.

Reflecting on the theme, Girija said, “Childhood trauma is often invisible when you’re living through it. You’re simply trying to cope with whatever life throws at you. Most parents know what’s right for their children, but social pressure—‘what will people say’—gets in the way.

If parents focused purely on their child’s well-being, they’d know what to permit and what to protect them from. Adults carry the responsibility; they are the ones with foresight and emotional maturity. With more aware, sensitive parents today, fewer people would need therapy for childhood trauma later in life.”

Speaking about what drew her to Perfect Family, she explained that the writing captivated her instantly. “I read Palak Bhambri’s script like a novel. By the second or third episode, it felt like beautifully crafted fiction. The show handles difficult topics with a touch of sweetness—like sugar-coating a bitter pill. It’s engaging, it’s entertaining, and it connects you emotionally. That’s what stood out to me.”

On the experience of shooting the series, Girija shared that the cast grew into a close-knit unit over time. “By the time we reached the therapy scene, we already felt like a real family. We had inside jokes and a wonderful camaraderie on set.”

Produced by Ajay Rai of JAR Pictures, with Mohit Chhabra and Pankaj Tripathi making his debut as a producer, Perfect Family is created by Palak Bhambri and directed by Sachin Pathak.

The series is scheduled to premiere on November 27, 2025, on the JAR Series YouTube channel.
