Panaji, Nov 23: Tension flared in Par-Usgao late at night after powerful gelatin explosives were allegedly used to illegally extract laterite stone under the cover of darkness. The loud blasts startled residents, and within hours, videos and photographs of the activity began circulating widely on social media, prompting public outrage and demands for immediate action.

Locals condemned the use of hazardous explosives in a residential vicinity and accused those involved of endangering both lives and the environment. Angry residents have called on authorities to launch a swift crackdown on the illegal quarrying operations.

Speaking on the issue, the local sarpanch said that an on-ground inspection would be conducted to assess the scale of the violations. A detailed report would then be prepared by the talathi and forwarded to senior officials for further action.

Residents continue to demand strict enforcement and accountability to prevent such illegal activities from recurring.
