Mangaluru, Nov 27: Carmel School, Kotekar, in collaboration with the Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority, observed Constitution Day on November 26. The programme was graced by the presence of the chief guest, Sukesh Kumar Shetty, advocate, Mangaluru, accompanied by Prem Kumar, advocate.
The celebration commenced with a soulful prayer song, invoking God’s blessings and setting a reverent tone. This was followed by a graceful welcome dance that brought vibrancy and cultural elegance to the event. A formal welcome address was presented, after which the dignitaries were introduced with due honour and appreciation.

As a mark of respect to the Father of the Indian Constitution, Dr B R Ambedkar, flowers were offered to his portrait. The entire gathering then united in the solemn recitation of the Preamble, reaffirming the core values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
Students captivated the audience with a special dance centered on the Constitution, reflecting the nation’s spirit and strength. A meaningful presentation on the significance of Constitution Day helped students connect deeply with the purpose of the celebration. This was followed by a skit depicting the making of the Indian Constitution, bringing pivotal historical moments to life on stage.
To enhance awareness of citizenship, students showcased the Fundamental Rights through simple yet impactful acts. Each right was presented clearly, emphasising its relevance in daily life. A colorful mashup dance added vibrancy and unity, enriching the cultural essence of the programme.
In his address, chief guest Sukesh Kumar Shetty inspired the gathering with insightful reflections. He highlighted that it has been 76 years since the Constitution came into force and emphasized its status as the mother of all laws. He noted how numerous landmark judgements have shaped important laws over the years and underscored the importance of their proper implementation. He appreciated the students for presenting a well-coordinated and meaningful programme. He also highlighted the significance of free legal aid, the safety of the girl child, issues concerning domestic violence, and the need to understand and safeguard Fundamental Rights.
Manyashree proposed a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event. The programme was efficiently compered by Aysha Manha and Driya.
The event was honored by the presence of principal Sr Pramila, administrator Sr Julie Ann, and Vice principal Sr Anitha.
The celebration concluded with a powerful message: the Indian Constitution is not merely a document—it is the guiding force of the nation, inspiring every citizen to uphold its timeless values in their daily lives.
