Mangaluru, Dec 8: Carmel School CBSE celebrated Annual Sports Day on December 5 with great excitement, energy and competitive spirit. The event brought together students, teachers and parents in a vibrant display of teamwork and athletic excellence.
The dignitaries of the day, sister Maria Smitha AC, superior of St Ann’s Convent and joint secretary, St Ann’s Campus Institutions; Santhosh PM, the chief guest; sister Rosevera, the principal; Dr Sister Prem D’Souza, the Administrator; sister Premal, the vice principal; Tanvi Amin, vice president, Parent - Teacher Association and physical directors Karunakar, Sachitha and Krishnappa were conferred a wholehearted welcome with a guard of honour by the rhythmic beats and harmonious times of the school band led by Anvitha, Prishan, the head boy and Aliyah Fathima, the head girl under the guidance of our band master Prem Moras.

The momentous occasion commenced by evoking the blessings of LORD Almighty with a prayer song led by the school choir. Sister Rosevera addressed the gathering with a sweet flowing word of welcome. Following a graceful welcome dance, the programme proceeded with an impressive march past. The contingents led by the school band, showcased impeccable precision and poise, embodying the values of discipline, unity and teamwork
The Flag Hoisting ceremony was the solemn part of this ceremony. As the teams stood upright in their positions, sister Maria Smitha along with other dignitaries hoisted the flag, symbolising determination, teamwork and excellence. The ceremonial torch, signifying the virtues of courage, discipline, and unwavering sportsmanship, was lit and entrusted to the torch bearers. Esteemed student athletes Vishal, Arushi, Daksh and Tanisha chosen for their exemplary achievements at various levels, carried the torch in a coordinated relay around the ground. As the chief guest received the torch as a mark of respect and integrity, athletes along with the physical directors placed the torch in the cauldron.
Mohammed Sahl, the secretary for sports pledged the path that the competitors would take part in the Track and Field events, respecting and abiding by the rules that govern them, in the true spirit of sportsmanship for the glory of sports and honor of the teams.
Santhosh formally inaugurated and declared the Annual Sports Meet open. In his address, the chief guest motivated the students to stay active and strive for excellence in whatever they do. He also appreciated the teachers in working hard to organize ba brilliant event.
The programme continued further with vibrant drill displays by students from LKG to grade 5, showcasing colour, coordination and enthusiasm. Each performance - from pom poms and flags to tennis rackets and plates - added energy to the event.
The programme was compered by Nitasha, Spoorthi, Aysha Manha, Madiha Fathima, Panchami and Poorvi. teacher Nishal proposed the words of gratitude.
After the formal programme, a plethora of athletic events got the adrenaline rushing. The students competed in a series of track and field events such as sack race, hoop race, medicine ball, 100, 200, relay followed by shotput and discus throw.
Annual Sports Meet concluded with an impressive valedictory ceremony marked by energy, pride, and celebration. Distinguished guests, including Sr Smitha AC, joint secretary; Thanvi Rajpal, entrepreneur and chief guest of the day; and other dignitaries, were warmly received by the school band.
The programme began with a spirited jumbled march presented by the young athletes, showcasing discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. A soulful prayer song set a reflective tone for the evening, followed by an inspiring welcome address by administrator Sr Dr Prem D’Souza.
Outstanding achievers of 2024-25 were felicitated for their academic excellence and dedication, reinforcing the school’s commitment to holistic development. Individual sports champions of various grades were honoured by the chief guest, while march past prizes were awarded by the principal, Sr Rosevera AC.
A vibrant Zumba performance by the students of class 10 added colour and enthusiasm to the celebration, drawing loud applause from the audience.
As the ceremony drew to a close, the school flag was respectfully lowered, symbolising the conclusion of the meet. The chief guest then extinguished the Cauldron, signifying harmony and goodwill. With pride and gratitude, the event was officially declared closed.
The ceremony concluded with the national anthem, bringing an end to the memorable Annual Sports Meet 2025–26.
