Udupi, Dec 10: A man lost his life after a car he was driving lost control, crashed into an electric pole, and toppled into a plantation on NH-66 near Ermalu Tenk Bridge around 2 am on Wednesday December 10.

The deceased has been identified as Abhishek, owner of Gowji Events from Mangaluru.

Abhishek was reportedly driving the car from Udupi towards Mangaluru, with no co-passengers. It is learned that his friends were travelling behind him in other vehicles.

The impact of the collision left the car completely mangled. As there was no electricity supply at the time, a major disaster was averted. Locals and friends immediately shifted the injured Abhishek to a private hospital in Mukka. However, he succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts.

A case has been registered at Padubidri police station.

My 4wd SUV deployed airbag with the intensity of high speed impact, but I came out intact as I was wearing seat belt. ALWAYS WEAR SEAT BELT, IT SAVES LIFE.

2 am on Wednesday December 10. The deceased Abhishek, owner of Gowji Events was driving at 2 am and his friends were travelling behind him in other vehicle. Possible that some sort of over taking sportive moments were in the action. Impact of the mangled car of the car explains whatsoever! (high on alcohol and speed as well)😫 R.I.P.

RIP bro! Whatever the reason for the accident, nothing can be done now; only a big note of caution to other youngsters who drive late in the night!

Over speeding is the main cause of accidents. No matter you reach 15 min or 30 min late. Always keep in mind that 'LIFE IS VERY PRECIOUS'...

Rest in peace. Looking at the condition of the vehicle, it seems it went out of control due to overspeeding.

rest in peace.... the reason is common nowadays either drink n drive or over speeding or both combined together to form reckless driving.....or else who would go out at 2:20am when it's the time to sleep and take rest......

Lets not assume here. Because he is part of Events, he might be travelling late at night once the entire event is over and wrapped up. Also if someone travels at night, it doesn't mean they drink and drive or over speed or do reckless driving. It can happen during day as well.

Please ban the unnecessary use of high-beam lights. High-beam headlights cause temporary blindness, leading to fatal accidents.
