Mumbai, Dec 13: As excitement builds for the upcoming season of MasterChef India 9, celebrity chef Kunal Kapur has revealed that the new edition will be anchored around three central themes — Ras (flavour), Rasoi (kitchen), and Rishtey (relationships). Kunal will return to the judging panel alongside fellow chefs Vikas Khanna and Ranveer Brar.
Sharing insights into the soul of the new season, Kunal said the show will place India’s regional and local cuisine firmly in the spotlight. According to him, the idea is to celebrate food that feels familiar and rooted, while presenting it through innovative formats.

He explained that while the challenges this season may appear straightforward and relatable to viewers, they come layered with unexpected elements. These include surprise ingredients, time pressures, and creative twists that push contestants to reimagine traditional tastes in fresh ways.
Kunal emphasized that beyond techniques and flavours, the emotional core of MasterChef India 9 lies in human connections. He described relationships — between food, families, and memories — as the true “seasoning” of the show, neatly summed up in the three R’s that define the season.
The makers recently released the official promo with the tagline “Desh Front Foot Par Chal Raha Hai”, highlighting a confident, forward-moving India. Sharing the promo on social media, they wrote that as the nation progresses, its flavours should move ahead too.
The post also announced the premiere details, stating that MasterChef India 9 will begin airing from January 5, running Monday to Friday at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV, promising to present India’s culinary spirit to the world — one plate at a time.
