Marriage is friendship first: Pulkit, Kriti keep love real

Mumbai, Dec 15: Actors Pulkit Samrat and Kriti Kharbanda are offering a refreshingly honest take on married life, choosing realism over grand romantic clichés. The couple, who tied the knot on March 15 last year, recently spoke candidly about their relationship, highlighting friendship, comfort and the conscious choice to nurture love every day.

Appearing on Karan Johar’s Maanvavar Shaadi Show, Pulkit described marriage as a natural progression of their bond rather than a dramatic transformation. “More than married life, I think we are best friends and best roommates. That’s what keeps the relationship alive,” he said, adding that simple companionship and shared routines form the foundation of their marriage.

Kriti echoed the sentiment, openly advocating marriage and commitment. “I fully recommend marriage, 100 per cent. When you find love, you must do everything to keep it in your life,” she said, emphasising that love is a daily choice that demands effort, patience and mutual respect.

The couple also spoke about the importance of living together before marriage. Pulkit revealed that they were in a live-in relationship for two years, calling it essential for understanding each other. Kriti shared how the pandemic brought them closer, explaining that after Covid, they moved into a home that belonged to both of them, building their life together from scratch.

Pulkit and Kriti first met on the sets of Pagalpanti in 2019 and grew close during promotions. What began as friendship evolved into a steady relationship, which they made public in 2023. After several years of dating, they got married in an intimate ceremony in Manesar, Haryana, attended by close family and friends.

Their story reflects a modern marriage rooted in companionship, shared space and a conscious commitment to grow together.
