London, Dec 18: Esther Anil, who rose to national fame as Anu in the Malayalam blockbuster Drishyam starring Mohanlal, has achieved a major personal milestone by graduating in International Development from the prestigious London School of Economics (LSE).

Sharing pictures from her graduation ceremony on Instagram, Esther penned a heartfelt note recalling her inspiring journey and the challenges her family faced in supporting her education abroad. The actor revealed that the idea of applying to LSE was first suggested by her father, which she initially dismissed as unrealistic.

“At that time, I thought it was way too big a fish to catch. I even felt my father was foolish to dream so big. Cut to today, here I am, standing in front of the London School of Economics, graduated in International Development. There is so much magic in life,” she wrote.

Esther candidly shared that she did not immediately inform her parents after receiving the acceptance letter, knowing well that the course was expensive and that her brothers were already burdened with student loans. However, her parents’ unwavering support strengthened her resolve. “All they said was, ‘We know how much you want this. Money will come. You are going,’” she recalled.

Reflecting on her time at LSE, Esther admitted to struggling with severe impostor syndrome while studying alongside some of the brightest minds from across the globe. Despite the challenges, she said the experience transformed her and deepened her passion for issues related to women and power.

Concluding her post on an emotional note, Esther expressed gratitude to her family, friends, relatives and supporters. “Maybe I’m not the dumbest after all. Maybe there is some light in me. Maybe I’ll join the powerful women someday,” she wrote.

Her post drew warm congratulations from several celebrities, including Nazriya Nazim Fahadh, Aparna Balamurali, Gouri G. Kishan, Khatija Rahman and many others.

Esther Anil became a household name with Drishyam (2013) and later reprised her role in the Telugu remake Drushyam and the Tamil version Papanasam. She made her debut as a lead actor in the Telugu film Johaar in 2020 and is set to return in Drishyam 3, which is expected to be the final chapter of the acclaimed franchise.
