Hyderabad, Dec 26: Actress Anasuya Bharadwaj has strongly responded to online trolls who targeted her with age-shaming remarks after she criticised actor Sivaji for his controversial comments about actresses and their dressing at the pre-release event of the film Dhandoraa.
The controversy erupted after Sivaji made remarks that many users termed misogynistic, drawing widespread criticism on social media. Anasuya, who publicly condemned the comments, soon found herself at the receiving end of trolling, with a section of users calling her “aunty” and questioning her stance.

Taking to X, Anasuya addressed the age-shaming head-on. “Since they cannot address the real issue, some men and women are age-shaming me and calling me ‘aunty’. But they respectfully call him ‘garu’. And somehow, I am the hypocrite,” she wrote.
The actress also spoke candidly about age and fitness, stating, “I am 40. I think he is 54. Still, both of us take good care of our fitness and our ‘glamour’, whether for our profession or for personal reasons.” Taking a dig at the trolls, she added that those commenting appeared to be “eternally young themselves.”
Expressing frustration, Anasuya said engaging further felt futile. “No matter how much we speak, it feels like blowing a conch in front of someone who refuses to hear,” she remarked.
Despite the negativity, Anasuya concluded her message on a positive and calm note, wishing everyone Merry Christmas and urging people to focus on celebration, good food and loved ones.
“I will always stand tall — unbothered, unaffected, untouched and strong,” she wrote, adding that her stand was about speaking up for sections of society that have long been ignored.
She signed off with a strong message for her critics: “Aap jalan barkaraar rakhna… hum jalwa barkaraar rakhenge.”
