Panaji, Dec 27: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday reiterated that the Goa government follows a strict zero-tolerance policy towards drugs, describing drug abuse as a grave social menace that turns “promises into pain” and destroys lives, particularly those of the youth.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a 30-day Special Awareness Campaign titled “Drug Abuse – Drugs: A Menace to Society”, organised by the Goa State Legal Services Authority.

Emphasising the need for collective action, the chief minister said drug abuse not only ruins individuals but also weakens families and society at large. He stressed that the government is committed to strengthening enforcement, awareness and rehabilitation measures to combat the growing drug menace.
Sawant urged educational institutions, parents, civil society organisations and youth to actively participate in the campaign and work together to build a drug-free society.
The awareness drive aims to educate citizens on the harmful effects of drug abuse, promote legal awareness and encourage early intervention to protect vulnerable sections, particularly young people, from falling prey to substance abuse.
