Three booked for outraging woman’s modesty at Canacona bar

Canacona, Dec 29: Three men have been booked by Canacona police for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman at a bar-restaurant in Gulem.

According to police, the incident took place at Sudharshan Bar & Restaurant, Gudi-Gulem, on Friday afternoon. The accused have been identified as Rajesh Thakarkar, Sudhir Thali and Prashant Talikar, all residents of Nandangadha in Karwar, Karnataka.

Police said the trio allegedly abused the woman using filthy, derogatory and insulting language and threatened her, causing fear for her life and safety. They allegedly told her, “We will lift you, we will molest you and we can even murder you,” thereby insulting her modesty.

It was further alleged that one of the accused clicked the woman’s photograph on his mobile phone, following which all three threatened her over an issue related to non-payment.

Based on the complaint, Canacona police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 352, 79, 351(2) and 351(3) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Ramdas Doifode of Canacona Police Station.
