Sullia, Dec 31: Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of Abdul Jabbar, a resident of Sullia Kasaba, following a brutal assault that left him critically ill and subsequently dead. Police have also seized the vehicle allegedly used in the crime.

According to Sumayya (35), Abdul Jabbar’s wife, her husband was abducted on October 16, during the afternoon by Mohammad Rafiq (41) and another accused, Manohar K S alias Manu (42).

Pretending to be prospective tenants, the accused lured Abdul Jabbar first to Duggaladaka and then to Sullia Kallugundi, where he was assaulted and threatened with death. Abdul Jabbar was reportedly assaulted on October 16 and admitted to the hospital the following evening as his health condition deteriorated. Doctors declared him dead a few hours after admission.

"After the attack, my husband fell seriously ill at home the next day, and we had to rush him to the hospital. Despite treatment, he did not survive," Sumayya said.

Following the complaint lodged on October 18, Sullia police registered Case No. 125/2025 under Sections 105 and 3(5) BNS.

Medical reports confirmed that Abdul Jabbar’s death was directly caused by the assault, leading authorities to upgrade the case to a murder case under Section 103 and 3(5) BNS.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Mohammad Rafiq, a resident of Sullia Kasaba, and Manohar K S, a resident of Sullia Sampaje. Both were produced in court and remain in police custody as further investigations continue.

Authorities have also seized the vehicle used in the crime, and inquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances behind this violent incident.
