Mumbai, Jan 2: The makers of Border 2 have released a new track titled Ghar Kab Aaoge, a recreated version of the iconic song Sandese Aate Hain from the original Border. The song has been reimagined by composer Mithoon, with additional lyrics penned by Manoj Muntashir, and features vocals by Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Roop Kumar Rathod, Vishal Mishra and Diljit Dosanjh.

The original song, composed by Anu Malik and sung by Sonu Nigam and Roop Kumar Rathod, continues to hold a special place among listeners. Following the release of the new version, social media users shared varied reactions, with many comparing it closely to the original.

While some listeners termed the remake “acceptable”, several felt it did not quite match the emotional depth of the original track. At the same time, many appreciated the attempt to retain the soul and essence of Sandese Aate Hain while giving it a contemporary touch.

Reacting online, one user wrote, “Now this is what we call an acceptable remake. Sonu Nigam’s verse is pure magic. He still outshines everyone and proves why he is the GOAT. Even Arijit was good.” Another commented, “Still getting goosebumps with this version. Timeless track.” A third user said the song reminded them of “the good old days”.

Others were more critical. One comment read, “Song seems fine, but not as good as the original. Honestly, I don’t think Vishal Mishra and Arijit Singh suit this song. Diljit is brilliant, and Sonu and Roop sir are the soul of this track.” Another fan praised the original composer, saying, “Wah Anu Malik ji, amazing work.”

Another user appreciated the restrained arrangement, stating, “I’m just happy they didn’t ruin it with extra loud or unnecessary sounds. Slightly disappointed with Arijit’s part, but otherwise the song is fire. Special appreciation for Vishal and Diljit.”

The original Sandese Aate Hain was written by Javed Akhtar, who won the National Award for the song in 1998. In the recreated version, Manoj Muntashir has contributed additional lyrics.

Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh and features an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. Produced by T-Series and JP Dutta’s J P Films, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026.
