Mumbai, Jan 5: The popular family comedy series Single Papa, headlined by actor-filmmaker Kunal Kemmu, has been officially renewed for a second season, following a strong response from viewers.
Executive producer Shashank Khaitan said the show was always envisioned as a long-running, family-centric narrative that would evolve alongside its characters. Reacting to the renewal, Khaitan noted that the emotional connect audiences formed with the characters affirmed the team’s original vision.
“The love for baby Amul, Gaurav and the entire Gehlot family tells us their story was never meant to stop at one season,” Khaitan said in a statement. He added that the collaboration with Netflix helped shape the series with sincerity and warmth, and that the upcoming season will delve deeper into relationships, everyday struggles and heartfelt moments.
Along with Kemmu, the ensemble cast includes Prajakta Koli, Manoj Pahwa, Ayesha Raza, Neha Dhupia, Suhail Nayyar, Dayanand Shetty, Aisha Ahmed, Dhruv Rathee and Isha Talwar.
The series revolves around Gaurav Gehlot, an affable but immature man whose life takes an unexpected turn when he decides to adopt a baby soon after his divorce. The move leaves his family stunned, triggering chaos and comic situations as they grapple with how someone still figuring out adulthood plans to raise a child.
Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, said the overwhelming audience response played a key role in the renewal. “It’s been incredibly heartening to see viewers laugh, feel and engage with conversations around parenting, adoption and love. The show’s global trending streak and its rapid rise to the No. 1 spot in India reaffirm that simple, honest emotions continue to resonate,” she said.
Single Papa is created and co-produced by Ishita Moitra and Neeraj Udhwani, with Shashank Khaitan serving as executive producer. Direction duties are shared by Khaitan, Hitesh Kewalya and Neeraj Udhwani. The series is produced by Aditya Pittie and Samar Khan under the Juggernaut Productions banner.
Season 2 of Single Papa is set to stream on Netflix.
