Mangaluru, Jan 9: The newly constructed office of the deputy conservator of forests (DCF), Mangaluru division, was inaugurated on Friday by Karnataka minister for forest, ecology and environment Eshwara Khandre, who formally opened the office by cutting the ribbon.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by MLA Mangaluru South D Vedavyas Kamath, Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly U T Khader, MLC Ivan D’Souza, and former MLA Moideen Bava. Several other political leaders, elected representatives, senior forest department officials, staff members, and members of the public were also present.




Addressing the gathering, minister Eshwara Khandre emphasised the state government’s commitment to protecting forest resources, conserving biodiversity, and strengthening the forest department’s role in sustainable development. He noted that the new office would enhance administrative efficiency and improve coordination in implementing conservation initiatives.
Other dignitaries present highlighted the need for collective efforts by the government, public representatives, and citizens to safeguard forests, especially in ecologically sensitive regions like coastal Karnataka. The new office is expected to provide better facilities for officials and enable the effective execution of forest protection and environmental programmes.
