Beltangady: Wild elephant blocks road on Charmadi Ghat, causes traffic jam

Beltangady, Jan 10: A wild elephant was spotted on the Charmadi Ghat road between the second and third hairpin bends on Friday night, causing a traffic jam for more than an hour.

At around 9.45 pm, the elephant broke a tree and stood in the middle of the road, feeding on it. During this time, motorists attempted to drive the elephant back into the forest. However, as the elephant did not move from the spot, vehicles were forced to line up on the road.

Eyewitnesses said that the situation was further complicated due to the absence of mobile network connectivity at the location, which made it difficult to relay information about the presence of the elephant.
