Mumbai, Jan 10: The first teaser of filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj’s much-anticipated action drama O’ Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor, was unveiled on Saturday, offering a peek into a gritty and quirky cinematic world packed with eccentric characters and explosive moments.
The 1 minute 35 seconds-long teaser, titled ‘A peek into the world of O’ Romeo’, opens with Shahid Kapoor’s character losing his temper aboard a boat as he angrily calls out for ‘chotu’. Sporting a cowboy hat, black vest, heavy jewellery and body tattoos, Shahid is seen in a raw, violent avatar, hinting at the chaos his character is set to unleash.

The glimpse also introduces an ensemble cast featuring Nana Patekar, Vikrant Massey, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani and Tamannaah Bhatia, each appearing briefly with distinct quirks that mirror the film’s offbeat tone. Veteran actress Farida Jalal steals the spotlight with a shocking line delivery, breaking her soft, maternal image as she says, “Rise in love, and you’re a Romeo. Drown in it, and you’re a c**tiya,” drawing instant attention.
As the teaser progresses, Shahid’s character is shown spiralling into further mayhem before Triptii Dimri makes her appearance, revealing a softer, more vulnerable side of the protagonist through an intense, longing glance. Though not featured in the teaser, Aruna Irani, Hussain Dalal, Resh Lamba and Rahul Deshpande are also part of the film’s cast.
The teaser quickly set social media abuzz, with Farida Jalal’s unexpected dialogue becoming a major talking point. “Farida Jalal saying ch***ya was so out of the blue. Loved it,” wrote one user on X, while another quipped, “Farida Jalal comes out of the syllabus.”
Shahid Kapoor’s fans, meanwhile, drew comparisons to his critically acclaimed film Kaminey. “The world reminds you of Kaminey vibes. The direction looks literally cool. Comeback ab aur bhi khatarnaak,” commented a fan. Another wrote, “Bollywood is peaking hard in 2026 – Dhurandhar 2, O’ Romeo, King, Love and War, Ramayana.”
O’ Romeo is written and directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, with Rohan Narula serving as co-writer. The film is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and is slated for a theatrical release on February 13.
