Chennai, Jan 15: The makers of Vaazha 2, the second film in the popular Vaazha franchise, have announced that the movie will release in theatres across the world on April 2 this year.
The release date was officially revealed through the film’s Instagram handle @vaazhamovie. The announcement described the film as “Biopic of a Billion Bros” and confirmed Savin S A as the director and Vipin Das as the writer.
The sequel stars Hashir, Alan, Ajin and Vijayan, among others. The production team had earlier announced in November last year that the film’s shooting had been completed after an extensive schedule.

Producer and writer Vipin Das had then shared his excitement on social media, stating that the film wrapped after nearly 115 days of shooting. He noted that, like the first part, Vaazha 2 introduces new talents and technicians alongside experienced actors, with the aim of delivering an engaging theatrical experience.
The Vaazha franchise began with the release of Vaazha, directed by Anand Menen. The original film, featuring a large ensemble cast including Jagadheesh, Kottayam Nazeer, Azees Nedumangad, Noby Marcose, Siju Sunny and others, became a surprise box-office success. Marketed as “The biopic of a billion boys,” the feel-good entertainer resonated strongly with audiences and emerged as a commercial hit.
Buoyed by the film’s success, the makers decided to expand the story into a franchise. While announcing the sequel, Vipin Das thanked audiences for their overwhelming support and said the response inspired him to once again back fresh talent. He introduced Savin S A as the debut director for the second instalment and Akhil Lailasuran as the cinematographer, both of whom have previously worked closely with him.
The producer also revealed that Vaazha 2 is being jointly produced by Harris Desom, P.B. Anish, Adarsh Narayan and Icon Cinemas.
The film has been shot across multiple locations, including Dubai and Georgia. The team recently wrapped up its UAE schedule, bringing the total number of shooting days to over 100. With its release date now locked, Vaazha 2 is expected to build on the goodwill created by the first film when it arrives in cinemas this April.
