Mumbai, Jan 17: Actor Kartik Aaryan has reportedly foregone his remuneration of Rs 15 crore after his latest film Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri failed at the box office, causing heavy losses to producer Karan Johar.
Kartik, who has been doing back-to-back films, starred opposite Ananya Panday in the romantic drama, which was released on December 25, 2025. Despite expectations, the film failed to attract audiences and received mixed responses, resulting in poor box-office collections.

Produced by Karan Johar under the Dharma Productions banner, the film also featured Neena Gupta and Jackie Shroff in key roles. Made on an estimated budget of around Rs 90 crore, the film reportedly managed to collect only about Rs 30 crore at the box office, leading to significant financial losses for the makers.
According to reports, Kartik Aaryan decided to relinquish his fee of Rs 15 crore in a gesture to reduce the producer’s losses. Sources said the actor voluntarily took the decision after the film underperformed commercially.
Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar had reportedly fallen out in 2021, but the differences were resolved by 2023, following which they reunited for this project. After the film’s failure, rumours surfaced suggesting fresh tensions between the actor and the filmmaker. However, sources close to both have dismissed these claims as baseless.
Industry observers pointed to multiple factors behind the film’s poor performance. Audiences were reportedly unimpressed with the content, and the film also faced stiff competition from Dhurandhar, which was dominating theatres at the time of release.
Despite the setback, Kartik Aaryan continues to remain one of the most sought-after actors in the industry, with several projects lined up.
