Sunil Pal slams Sunil Grover’s female acts, praises Kapil Sharma’s evolution

Mumbai, Jan 20: Comedian Sunil Pal, known for his outspoken views, has triggered controversy with his remarks on fellow comedians Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover, drawing sharp reactions from the comedy circuit.

Speaking during a podcast interview, Pal stressed the importance of evolving with time in the entertainment industry. He said that change is essential for survival and claimed that several comedians faded away because they failed to reinvent themselves. Citing Naveen Prabhakar and Ahsaan Qureshi, Pal remarked that sticking to old formats limits an artiste’s growth.

While praising legendary comedian Johny Lever for continuously inspiring change over four decades, Pal said Kapil Sharma is one of the few contemporary comedians who successfully adapted to changing times. “Kapil evolved, and that is why he remains strong in the industry,” he said.

However, Pal was critical of Sunil Grover’s cross-dressing roles, particularly his performances as female characters on The Kapil Sharma Show. Recalling his early association with Grover, Pal said those acts made him uncomfortable. He claimed that watching Grover perform in a woman’s get-up once made him physically ill, though he clarified that he still admired Grover’s talent.

Pal further stated that vulgarity and abusive content often fetch huge money in the industry, adding that he too had opportunities to follow that route earlier.

Sunil Grover is best known for his popular characters like Gutthi and Rinku Bhabhi, while Kapil Sharma continues to enjoy massive popularity for constantly refreshing his comedy format and connecting with audiences across generations.
