Beltangady, Jan 21: In the spirit of thanksgiving and the joy of the jubilee year 2025, the YCS Belthangady deanery presented its first-ever deanery newsletter titled ‘Alpha and Omega’. The YCS Belthangady deanery team under the spiritual guidance of Fr Anil Avild Lobo, deanery YCS director, with the committed support of deanery animators Santhosh D’Souza and Lezwin Andrade, along with animators from various YCS units and the vibrant student leadership of Praneeth Moras, deanery YCS president, and Viyola Moras, deanery YCS secretary, supported by student office bearers—works with a common aim inspired by the YCS vision of ‘See, Judge, and Act,’ to nurture, guide, and empower young students to become responsible and faith-filled individuals. Reflecting this shared mission, the same dedicated and dynamic deanery team brought out the deanery’s first-ever newsletter, as an expression of faith, creativity, and youthful evangelization.
This noble initiative was envisioned with the purpose of nurturing the God-given talents of YCS students while proclaiming the good news through meaningful articles, poems, reflections, and creative expressions rooted in faith. Centered on the theme of the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, the newsletter presents articles grounded in the facts of ancient biblical times, conveyed through a contemporary reporting style and modern narrative tone, creatively connecting the sacred event with the understanding and sensibilities of today’s era. The newsletter stands as a testimony to the vibrant faith of young hearts and their desire to evangelize through the written word.

The release of Alpha and Omega took place during the Christmas Eve Mass in all the parishes of the Belthangady deanery, enabling the message of Christ’s birth to reach every parish family. The proceeds collected from the sale of the newsletter were shared between the YCS units and the deanery. The entire deanery contribution was devoted to works of charity by supporting the specially-abled children of Daya Special School, a compassionate institution serving the region.
To further engage readers, the newsletter featured interactive sections such as puzzles, quizzes, and a lucky coupon with attractive prizes. The lucky draw was held on January 18 at the Belthangady deanery parish. The draw was graciously conducted by His Eminence bishop emeritus Lawrence Mukkuzhy, bishop emeritus of the diocese of Belthangady. Following the draw, His eminence blessed the gathering and handed over the donation cheque to Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, director of Daya Special School, Belthangady. The event was made spiritually enriching by the presence of priests from the deanery parishes and a large gathering of faithful from across the deanery.
Also present on the occasion were Fr Walter, deanery vicar Forane; Fr Anil Avild Lobo, deanery YCS director; Santhosh D’Souza, deanery animator; and James Barboza and Preetha D'Souza, unit animators of Beltangady, along with YCS members and parishioners.
This initiative beautifully reflects the jubilee spirit of faith, fellowship, and service, as YCS Belthangady deanery continues its mission of forming young people to live and proclaim Christ through creativity, compassion, and commitment.
