Mumbai, Jan 25: Even as rumours of actors Mrunal Thakur and Dhanush tying the knot have been firmly dismissed, fans continue to imagine the two together — now with the help of artificial intelligence.
An Instagram page, @devaimation, on Friday shared an AI-generated video depicting what it claimed was Mrunal and Dhanush’s wedding, complete with fabricated details of a “private ceremony” held on January 22 in Chennai. The post described a close-knit family affair attended by several top Kollywood stars and claimed the visuals were a “leaked glimpse” that had taken the internet by storm.

The video showed Dhanush dressed in a traditional white-and-golden veshti and Mrunal in a bright red saree, seated before the holy fire. AI-generated visuals also featured celebrities such as Shruti Haasan, Trisha Krishnan, Vijay, Dulquer Salmaan and others posing as wedding guests.
While the post carried a disclaimer stating that the reel was AI-generated and meant purely for entertainment and news-style representation, it initially left many viewers confused. Some fans commented in excitement, while others quickly pointed out that the video was fake.
The clip resurfaced amid earlier speculation about the duo’s wedding, which was denied last week by a source close to Mrunal. The source clarified that there were no wedding plans and said the rumours were unfounded.
It was also pointed out that Mrunal has a busy release schedule, with her film Do Deewane Seher Mein slated to release around the time of the rumoured wedding, followed by another Telugu film release in March, making the speculation unrealistic.
Despite the clarification, the AI video has once again highlighted how easily misinformation — even when labelled as fictional — can momentarily blur the line between reality and imagination online.
