‘Dhamaal 4’ release delayed again, comedy franchise now set for July 3

Mumbai, Jan 27: Fans of the hit comedy franchise Dhamaal will have to wait a bit longer for its fourth instalment, as the makers have once again postponed the film’s release. The latest update confirms that Dhamaal 4 will now hit theatres on July 3 this year.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, marking the second delay for the much-anticipated comedy. The film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19. However, to avoid a box-office clash with two big-ticket releases — Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Yash’s Toxic — the makers had earlier shifted the date to June 12.

Now, the release has been pushed further, though no specific reason was cited for the latest delay.

Directed by Indra Kumar, Dhamaal 4 brings back the franchise’s core ensemble cast, including Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Sanjay Mishra and Jaaved Jaaferi. The new instalment will also feature Esha Gupta, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Anjali Anand, Upendra Limaye, Vijay Patkar and Ravi Kishan, adding fresh faces to the chaos-filled comedy.

The film is jointly produced by Ajay Devgn, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Ashok Thakeria, Indra Kumar, Anand Pandit and Kumar Mangat Pathak. It is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with Devgn Films, T-Series Films, Maruti International and Panorama Studios.

The Dhamaal franchise began with the release of the first film in 2007, starring Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Aashish Chaudhary, Jaaved Jaaferi, Asrani, Sanjay Mishra, Murli Sharma, Vijay Raaz, Manoj Pahwa, Tiku Talsania and Prem Chopra.

Its sequel, Double Dhamaal, arrived in 2011, followed by Total Dhamaal in 2019, which was positioned as a reboot of the series. Total Dhamaal was reportedly loosely inspired by the 2015 film Vacation, with a few scenes drawing from the 2014 release Blended.

With the latest delay, audiences will now have to wait until July to see the franchise return to the big screen with its signature brand of slapstick humour.
