Panaji, Jan 27: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday announced that more than 75,000 professionals and delegates from over 120 countries are participating in India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 at the ONGC campus in South Goa, describing the event as one of the world’s most influential platforms shaping the future of global energy security.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Sawant said Goa was proud to host a global energy dialogue that strongly aligns with the state’s vision for a Green and Blue Economy.

“India Energy Week has grown into far more than a conference. It is a platform where global commitments come together, ideas turn into action, and ambitions are translated into implementation,” the chief minister said. “Goa is honoured to host this dialogue and to become the permanent home of India Energy Week. This is both a matter of pride and responsibility.”
The inauguration was also addressed virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sawant said the Prime Minister’s message set the direction for the discussions and reflected India’s rising leadership role in the global energy landscape.
“Under the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership, India has emerged as a solutions-driven global leader, backed by capability, confidence and commitment,” Sawant said. He added that India would steer the global energy transition with a focus on responsibility, innovation and inclusive growth.
Highlighting Goa’s development goals, the chief minister said the vision of Viksit Bharat rests on energy systems that are reliable, affordable and resilient. “Goa fully shares this vision. We are working towards a Viksit Goa through sustainable development and future-ready energy infrastructure, with a clear roadmap to transition to 100 per cent renewable energy by 2050,” he said.
Sawant also underlined the broader economic impact of IEW 2026 on the state, noting that the event would provide a boost to tourism, services, local businesses and employment. “The outcomes of these discussions will go beyond conference halls, creating real opportunities for local communities and strengthening Goa’s position as a global hub for green and blue economy dialogue,” he said.
Referring to Goa’s coastal identity, the chief minister stressed that clean energy growth must be balanced with responsible use of ocean resources. “Our future depends on achieving economic progress while ensuring environmental protection and long-term resilience,” he said.
Calling IEW 2026 a platform for global collaboration, Sawant urged international stakeholders to work together. “The world needs solutions that are practical, scalable and inclusive. Let us use this platform to share best practices, attract investment and accelerate innovation so that the global energy transition becomes a shared success,” he added.
