Chennai, Feb 5: The release date for director Hussain Sha Kiran’s much-anticipated thriller Mrithunjay has been officially locked. The film, headlined by Sree Vishnu and Reba John, is scheduled to arrive in theatres across the globe on February 27.

Announcing the news on Instagram, Sree Vishnu shared the film’s release poster and expressed his excitement about the project. “27th February it is for #Mrithyunjay to win your hearts in theatres. See you all with a thrilling tale,” the actor wrote.

Reba John, who plays the female lead, echoed the announcement on her social media platforms, teasing the film’s suspense-driven narrative. “My next. Every answer raises a deadlier question. #Mrithyunjay arrives in cinemas on Feb 27th,” she posted.

Earlier, production house Light Box Media had unveiled the film’s title teaser, hinting at a tense, high-stakes game at the heart of the story. Sharing the teaser link on X, the makers had said, “Every clue matters. Every move is a risk. But in this game — Jay decides when it’s over.”

Sree Vishnu had also promoted the teaser upon its release last year, describing the project as a departure from his earlier work. “A new me. A new game. I see it. Now, it’s your turn. #Mrithyunjay. This one hits different,” he wrote, thanking the team for their support.

The title teaser established Mrithunjay as a gripping crime thriller and revealed Reba John in the role of a police officer. While the makers have kept Sree Vishnu’s character under wraps, brief shots from the teaser have sparked speculation that he may be playing a prisoner, adding to the intrigue surrounding the film.

Produced by Sandeep Gunnam and Vinay Chilakapati and presented by Ramya Gunnam, the film has generated strong buzz among audiences and industry watchers alike.
