Kundapur, Feb 12: The Centre of Excellence for Smart Innovation in AI, Drone and Robotics was inaugurated at the research cell of Moodlakatte Institute of Technology (MITK) on Thursday, February 12.

The centre was inaugurated by Takeshi Ogura, asia business head of KTC Holdings, Japan, along with other dignitaries. The inaugural ceremony was followed by a formal programme that commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

Addressing the gathering, Takeshi Ogura expressed his appreciation for the institution and said, “I am delighted to be here and am truly impressed by the discipline and quality of the staff and students. This is my first visit to one of the top institutions in India. KTC is among the largest education groups in Japan, and we began our operations in India two years ago. We are now seeking leading institutions for collaboration. As Japan is currently facing a shortage of young workers, we are looking for reliable partners in India. We plan to establish a Japanese language centre here and encourage students to learn the language and explore career opportunities in Japan.”

Anil Basotra, co-founder and ceo of KTC Holding India Private Limited (MiChiTECH) and co-founder and director of Daikichi, highlighted the group’s expansion plans. He said, “KTC Group commenced its operations in India two years ago. We are among the major education groups and are now seeking collaboration partners across the country to teach Japanese language to students and facilitate employment opportunities for them in Japan. Our association with MITK provides an excellent opportunity to establish a Centre of Excellence here. This initiative will focus not only on Japanese language training but also on enhancing the skills required for students to work successfully in Japan.”

Dr Hari Krishna Maram, founder and chairman of Vision Digital India, lauded the initiative taken by MITK and said, “MITK has taken a significant step by establishing an AI lab, creating valuable opportunities for students. At a time when the world is looking at India as a potential AI capital, this initiative is both timely and forward-thinking. The students of MITK stand to benefit greatly from these facilities. While many fear that AI may replace human jobs, it should instead be seen as an opportunity that simplifies work and enhances productivity. I urge students to make the most of these resources and strengthen their knowledge, as you are the ones who will contribute to making India number one by 2047.”

Dr Ramakrishna Hegde, professor and principal of MITK, presiding over the event, described the day as an important milestone for the institution. He said, “We have begun an association with one of the leading educational groups in the world. I urge students to take full advantage of the facilities provided. We are collaborating with Japan, a country known for its advanced innovation and technology.”

Professor Shrinidhi welcomed the gathering. Student Nikitha proposed the vote of thanks, while student Irshad compered the event.

Siddarth Shetty, chairman of IMJ; Dr S N Bhat, academics director of IMJ Educational Institutions Moodlakatte; Dr Indra Vijay Singh, professor and dean research and consultancy hod of MITK, teaching and non-teaching staff members, and students were present on the occasion.
