New Delhi, Feb 12: India is reviewing an invitation from the United States to participate in the newly-formed Board of Peace, a US-led initiative aimed at fostering peace, reconstruction, and economic revival in Gaza. The first session of the Board is scheduled for February 19.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, speaking at a weekly briefing, said India is carefully examining the proposal. He reaffirmed India’s long-standing support for efforts that promote peace, stability, and dialogue in West Asia. “Our Prime Minister has welcomed initiatives that provide a pathway toward sustainable, long-term peace in the region, including Gaza,” Jaiswal noted.

On February 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with US President Donald Trump over the phone, expressing India’s backing for Trump’s peace efforts. PM Modi described the US President’s leadership as vital for global stability and prosperity, adding that he looked forward to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The Board of Peace was launched by President Trump last month at the Davos summit. The initiative seeks to secure peace, open crossings, demilitarise armed groups, and set the stage for Gaza’s long-term reconstruction and economic growth. Trump described the plan as a shift “from war to rebuilding” and highlighted Gaza’s potential for redevelopment, noting its strategic coastal location.
India has yet to confirm participation in the first meeting, signaling careful consideration of its role in the US-backed peace process.
