Puttur: Senior citizen’s death found to be murder; three including son held

Puttur, Feb 16: Uppinangady police have registered a murder case following the death of K C Varghese (73), a resident of Koppamadery in Nelyadi village, who had sustained strong blows to the head and other parts of his body.

Three persons, including the deceased’s son, have been taken into custody. The accused are identified as Varghese’s son K V Thomas alias Wilson of Nellyadi in Kadaba taluk, C T Raju alias Varghese, a resident of Arasinamakki in Beltangady taluk, and Chakoch of Nellyadi in Kadaba taluk.

The incident had taken place six days ago, and in this regard, K V Thomas had lodged a complaint with the Uppinangady police.

Police had conducted a mahazar at the spot, and a forensic team had also visited the scene and carried out an inspection. A post-mortem was conducted at K S Hegde Hospital, Deralakatte. Doctors have reported that Varghese died due to head injuries sustained during the assault, and during the investigation it was found to be a case of murder. Accordingly, a case has been registered and further investigation is being carried out, police said.
