Thiagarajan, Vijay Sethupathi reunite after ‘Super Deluxe’

Chennai, Feb 16: Director Thiagarajan Kumararaja is set to reunite with actor Vijay Sethupathi for a new project, marking their collaboration after the critically acclaimed Super Deluxe.

The yet-to-be-titled film will be produced by Kumararaja under his banners Tyler Durden and Kino Fist. The makers have announced that the first look poster of the film will be unveiled on February 16.

Key collaborators from Super Deluxe, including producer SD Ezhilmathy and editor Sathyaraj Natrajan, are also part of the upcoming venture. While details regarding the rest of the cast, technical crew and storyline remain under wraps, the announcement poster features a sketched artwork of Indian rupee notes falling into a briefcase, hinting at an intriguing premise.

Kumararaja made his directorial debut with the neo-noir gangster drama Aaranya Kaandam in 2011, starring Jackie Shroff and Sampath Raj. He later directed the episode Ninaivo Oru Paravai in the anthology series Modern Love: Chennai, which premiered on Prime Video in 2023.

His second feature, Super Deluxe, was a hyperlink narrative weaving together multiple storylines, including that of a troubled couple, a group of boys on a quest, a family confronted with an unexpected return, and a religious extremist grappling with faith.

Vijay Sethupathi’s portrayal of Shilpa in Super Deluxe earned him the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor at the 67th National Film Awards, further cementing the duo’s successful collaboration.
