Flights from Mangaluru to Gulf nations cancelled on March 3 amid rising tensions

Mangaluru, March 2: Flight services scheduled to depart on March 3 from Mangaluru International Airport to Dubai, Doha, Dammam, Qatar and Abu Dhabi have been cancelled, an official release said, citing escalating tensions in the Gulf region.

The disruption follows retaliatory strikes reportedly carried out by Iran on key installations, including American military bases across Gulf nations, in response to attacks by Israel and the United States. The rapidly deteriorating security situation has prompted authorities to suspend flights to Gulf destinations as a precautionary measure.

Officials indicated that the cancellations were undertaken to ensure passenger safety amid fears of further escalation. While no specific timeline has been announced for the resumption of services, travellers have been advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines for updates.

The sudden suspension has triggered widespread concern in coastal Karnataka, where thousands of families depend on relatives employed in Gulf countries.

Anxiety has mounted not only among Kannadigas working in the region but also among their families back home, as uncertainty looms over travel plans and the broader regional situation.
