Los Angeles, Mar 9: A woman was taken into custody after allegedly opening fire outside the Los Angeles residence of pop star Rihanna on Sunday afternoon, police said. No injuries were reported in the incident.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the shooting was reported around 1:15 pm at the home the singer shares with rapper A$AP Rocky near Beverly Hills.

Police said the suspect drove up to the residence and fired multiple shots using what authorities described as an AR-15-style rifle. Four rounds or fragments struck parts of the property before officers arrived at the scene.

The woman believed to be responsible for the shooting was detained by police. Her identity has not yet been released, and officials said further details regarding the charges are expected to be made public on Monday.

Investigators also confirmed that the weapon involved in the shooting was recovered by officers responding to the call about an assault with a deadly weapon.

It was not immediately clear whether Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, or their children were inside the house at the time of the incident. Representatives for the couple did not immediately respond to media requests for comment.

The investigation is being handled by the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division.

Aerial footage from NBC Los Angeles showed what appeared to be bullet holes in a gate at the property, while the street outside the residence was cordoned off with police tape as officers conducted their investigation.

The singer’s residence is located in the upscale Beverly Crest neighbourhood, about 20 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Police said the motive behind the shooting has not yet been determined.
