UAE cuts oil output as Iran threatens halt to Gulf exports

Daijiworld Media Network - Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, Mar 10: The United Arab Emirates has reportedly reduced its oil production by around 500,000 to 800,000 barrels per day amid rising tensions in the Gulf region, according to a new report.

The development comes as Iran warned that not a single litre of oil would be allowed to be exported from the Gulf as long as its war with the United States and Israel continues.

Responding to the escalating situation, the UAE said it was being targeted “in a very unwarranted manner” during the ongoing conflict in the region.

The Gulf nation also clarified that it would not participate in any attacks against Iran, even as Tehran has launched strikes on several Arab neighbours that it considers allies of the United States.

“The UAE does not seek to be drawn into conflict or escalation,” Jamal Al Musharakh, the UAE’s ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, said while commenting on the situation.
