Mangaluru, Mar 11: St Aloysius ITI, Mangaluru celebrated International Women’s Day on March 10 for all women staff and students of the institute. The programme was organized to create awareness about women empowerment, financial independence, and self-confidence.
The programme began with Swathi K, senior manager, Canara Bank NRI Branch, as the chief guest. She was warmly welcomed by the principal, Roshan D’Souza. The dignitaries present on the dais were Fr John D’Souza SJ – director, Roshan D’Souza – principal, Lion Rajesh Kamath, president, Lions Club Mangaluru, Wilson N – training officer, and Noel Lobo – training officer. Swathi K delivered an informative talk on the usage of bank loans and financial schemes available for women and youth. She explained about Canara Angel Account, Mudra Yojana, Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), and subsidy facilities provided by the government for starting small businesses. The session was followed by an interactive question and answer session, where students raised various doubts related to loans and banking schemes, and the chief guest clarified them.

























Prafulla D’Cruz, an entrepreneur, joined the programme as the chief guest for the second session. She spoke about the importance of women becoming independent and confident in life. She encouraged the participants to develop skills that can help them earn and support themselves. She also conducted a practical session on preparing paper bags, where all participants actively learned and prepared paper bags.
Various games were conducted for the women staff and students of the institute, creating a joyful and lively atmosphere.
A special Women’s Day celebration programme organized by the men staff was held to honour the women of the institute. The chief guest for this programme was Lion Hema Rao, first vice president, Lions Club Mangalore. The celebration was graced by the presence of Fr John D’Souza SJ – director, Roshan D’Souza – principal, Alwyn Menezes – vice principal, Noel Lobo – training officer, Wilson N – training officer, and all the staff members of the institute.
The programme was compered by Ravi, and the welcome speech was delivered by Shreyas. During the celebration, the men staff presented cultural performances such as dance and song as a token of appreciation for the women staff and students. Fr John D’Souza SJ, director, addressed the gathering and encouraged women to be independent, build confidence, and earn while learning.
Chief guest Lion Hema Rao also motivated the women to build confidence, trust themselves, and learn to protect themselves. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the games, followed by a cake cutting ceremony to mark the celebration. Feedback about the programme was shared by Padmavathi on behalf of the staff and Ankitha on behalf of the students. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Anish.
The programme was meaningful and inspiring, highlighting the importance of women empowerment, financial awareness, skill development, and self-confidence.
