Dhaka, Mar 12: Bangladesh national cricket team registered a dominant eight-wicket victory over Pakistan national cricket team in the first ODI, bowling out the visitors for just 114 before chasing down the target with ease.

After winning the toss and opting to field, Bangladesh dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup for 114 in 30.4 overs. Fast bowler Nahid Rana starred with a sensational five-wicket haul that triggered a dramatic collapse.

Chasing a modest target of 115, Bangladesh reached the total comfortably in just 15.1 overs, sealing a comprehensive victory.

Following the defeat, former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir criticised the team’s performance and raised concerns over its current direction.

“We are now starting to lose to Bangladesh. I'm worried we might even become an associate-level team,” Amir reportedly wrote on social media after the match.

Pakistan fielded a relatively inexperienced side in the match, with senior batter Babar Azam not part of the squad.

Amir said dropping senior players entirely could hurt the team’s balance. “You can't just drop senior players and play only youngsters. There needs to be guidance and experience in the team,” he said.

He also criticised the batting approach of young players, saying many struggle against deliveries outside the off stump and rely heavily on mid-wicket shots.

“Our bowling was disappointing. On the same wicket where we struggled, Bangladesh chased the target very quickly,” Amir added.

Meanwhile, several fans and Pakistani media outlets also questioned the team selection and inclusion of inexperienced players, describing the defeat as a shocking collapse and highlighting the dominance of Bangladesh’s bowling attack led by Nahid Rana.
