Bantwal: Parish Council & Commission training programme held at Mogarnad

Media Release

Bantwal, Mar 23: A training programme for Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) and Parish Finance Council (PFC) members was held at Deva Matha Samudhai Bhavana on Sunday, March 22. The session aimed to deepen understanding of the roles and responsibilities of council members.

The training emphasized that council members are called to be servants of the people, not rulers and must carry out their duties with humility and dedication. It highlighted the Diocesan Pastoral Plan (2024-2026/2026-2028), focusing on implementing the 21 Commissions (Ayogs) that address key areas such as faith formation, catechesis, social welfare, youth development and family life.

The session stressed that Parish Council members should focus on pastoral concerns like family welfare, youth and children's formation, care for the sick and needy and parish catechesis. Financial matters are the responsibility of the Parish Finance Council.

The resource person, Fr Naveen Pinto, judicial vicar and coordinator for Pastoral Commissions, led the training. Fr Anil Canute D’Mello invoked God's blessings and welcomed the resource person. The programme was hosted by Mother of God Church, Mogarnad, with participation from St Joseph Church, Borimar. Around 175 participants attended the event.

The training encouraged members to work collaboratively, avoiding party politics and power struggles and to engage with the 21 Ayogs to plan and implement programmes.
