Communal provocative posts on social media: Youth arrested in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Mar 26: Police from Kankanady Town police station have arrested a youth accused of posting communal provocative messages on social media.

The arrested accused has been identified as Pavan Acharya (22), a resident of Moodubelle village in Kaup taluk.

A case had been registered against him at the Kankanady Town police station for allegedly sharing posts inciting communal tension on social media following the murder of Suhas Shetty in Bajpe in 2025.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the person operating the account named ‘TN-MADDY’, which was used to post communal provocative content, was Pavan.

Police arrested the accused on Wednesday and produced him before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days. Mangaluru police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy stated that another case has also been registered against him at Kaup police station and is under investigation.
