Bhushan Kumar, Vivek Agnihotri announce ‘Operation Sindoor’ based on India’s military strikes

Mumbai, Mar 26: Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and producer Bhushan Kumar on Thursday announced their upcoming film Operation Sindoor, inspired by India’s targeted military strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The film is based on the book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India's Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan by Lt Gen K.J.S. ‘Tiny’ Dhillon (Retd). It will be directed by Agnihotri and jointly produced by T-Series and I Am Budha Productions.

According to the makers, the film draws inspiration from events following the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed. They described the project as a cinematic portrayal of India’s strategic response, highlighting courage, precision, and national resolve.

Bhushan Kumar said the story was one that “demands to be told with honesty and responsibility,” adding that it goes beyond cinema to document a defining moment in the nation’s history.

Agnihotri, known for films like The Kashmir Files, said the project is based on extensive research conducted in collaboration with various wings of the Indian Armed Forces. He noted that the narrative aims to present a deeper and more complex reality than what is publicly known.

“This is not just a film but a revelation,” Agnihotri said, adding that the intention is to bring forth a story of courage and strategic clarity with authenticity while offering a gripping cinematic experience.

Further details regarding the cast and release date are expected to be announced soon.
