Kundapur, Mar 26: Minister for women and child development and Udupi district in-charge minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar expressed confidence that the Congress party will emerge victorious in the upcoming by-elections in both Davanagere South and Bagalkot constituencies.

Speaking to the media near the Yuva Meridian helipad at Koteshwar in Kundapur on Thursday, March 26, the minister said that, generally, voters tend to support the ruling party in by-elections. She added that the state government’s guarantee schemes have reached every household, contributing not only to development but also to an increase in people’s income. “Women voters, in particular, are satisfied with the government’s initiatives,” she noted.

Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar asserted that the Congress will ‘definitely win’ in both constituencies. “In a democracy, everyone has the right to seek a ticket. However, victory is our only benchmark,” she said. Referring to the Davanagere South seat, which fell vacant following the demise of Shamanur Shivashankarappa, she said that a member of his family has been given the ticket, and the party is committed to the high command’s decision.

Responding to a question on the Varahi project, the minister assured that no injustice would be done to anyone. “Farmers from both sides have already submitted representations. The intention of both the district administration and the government is to ensure fairness to all,” she said.

Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar further stated that the deputy commissioner has already visited the site and conducted an inspection. The government will take necessary steps to complete the project at the earliest, keeping the interests of farmers in mind.

On the issue of some government buses not entering the newly built KSRTC bus stand in Byndoor, minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar said that a meeting involving national highway authorities will be convened through the deputy commissioner to resolve the matter at the earliest.
