Udupi: Pedestrian woman killed in crane accident near Udyavar

Udupi, Mar 27: A 45-year-old pedestrian woman lost her life after being hit by a crane near Udyavar Guddeyangadi on National Highway 66 on the evening of March 26.

The deceased has been identified as Divya (45), a native of Karwar. Immediately after the accident, locals rushed her to a hospital in Udupi in a private vehicle for treatment, but she succumbed to her injuries.

According to reports, Divya was travelling by car towards Karwar along with her daughter, who had recently been discharged from a hospital in Mangaluru. They had taken a U-turn near Udyavar Balayipade and stopped at a hotel near Guddeyangadi for refreshments.

It is said that when her daughter requested a cricket bat, Divya attempted to cross the road again to reach the opposite side. During this attempt, a crane hit her, leading to the fatal accident.
