Jerusalem, Mar 31: Multiple explosions were heard over Jerusalem on Tuesday as Israel said its air defence systems were activated in response to incoming missiles from Iran.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had identified missiles launched from Iran towards Israeli territory, prompting sirens to ring out across Jerusalem.

According to reports, at least ten blasts were heard in the city as air defence systems intercepted the incoming projectiles.

In a subsequent update, the military said that the interception efforts were successful and that it was safe for residents to leave protected spaces across the country.

Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB also confirmed that missiles had been launched towards Israel.

The incident marks a fresh escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two countries, with tensions continuing to rise in the region.
