Taiz, Oct 13: At least five civilians were killed and 17 others wounded in Houthi attacks across Yemen’s Taiz governorate over a 24-hour period, according to the Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms.

In a report carried by Yemen’s state-run Saba news agency, the rights organisation said it had documented 43 violations by Houthi forces during the period. Those killed included five-year-old Ahlam Abdulsalam, who died when shelling struck her family’s home in the al-Misrakh district.

The group said Houthi forces fired more than 180 projectiles at residential areas across the governorate. The attacks reportedly involved mortar and artillery shells, Katyusha rockets and tank rounds, in addition to drone strikes.

The shelling damaged seven homes and 12 privately owned vehicles, while al-Safwa Hospital and al-Saeed Mosque in Taiz city were also affected, the report said.

The organisation warned that continued attacks and restrictions on supplies were worsening the humanitarian situation in the region. It called on the United Nations and the international community to take urgent measures to protect civilians and ensure access to essential supplies and medical care.
