Chennai, Mar 31: The much-anticipated Tamil action drama Arasan, directed by Vetrimaran and starring Silambarasan (Simbu), is progressing rapidly, with sources indicating that shooting is likely to be completed by early June.
Insiders reveal that actress Priyanka Arul Mohan is set to join the film’s shoot from April 2, while the makers are eyeing a Deepavali release window. Silambarasan had resumed filming on March 17, and a still from the sets recently sparked significant buzz on social media.

The current schedule, described as extensive, is underway at a brisk pace and will include scenes featuring Vijay Sethupathi. Actors Vikranth and child artiste Kamalesh—who gained attention for his role in Tourist Family—are also part of the ongoing shoot.
The film is backed by veteran producer Kalaipuli S Thanu under his banner V Creations. Thanu had earlier confirmed that Vijay Sethupathi plays a key role in the film, dismissing rumours suggesting otherwise, and noted that major sequences featuring both him and Simbu would be filmed in the ongoing schedule.
The first schedule of Arasan, shot in Kovilpatti, was completed on December 21 last year.
The project has generated immense excitement, marking the first collaboration between Simbu and acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaran. The anticipation further grew after the announcement of Vijay Sethupathi’s involvement.
A promotional video released earlier added to the intrigue, featuring director Nelson in a cameo. The promo hints at a gritty narrative, with Simbu portraying a character entangled in serious criminal charges, including multiple murders, while insisting on his innocence.
The teaser suggests that the film draws from a raw, realistic world similar to Vada Chennai, promising an intense and layered storyline.
The film also stars Samuthirakani, Andrea Jeremiah, and Kishore in pivotal roles, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
