Beltangady, Mar 31: In a disturbing incident on Tuesday morning, two student sisters were thrown onto the road after the door of a moving KSRTC bus suddenly opened near Gerukatte on Reshme Road in Beltangady taluk.

The injured have been identified as Charishma, an SSLC student, and Chasmika, a PUC student, daughters of Nagaraj and Roopa from Kalaithottu in Nayyatarpu village. The sisters had boarded the KSRTC bus from Gerukatte and were travelling towards Beltangady for school when the mishap occurred.

According to reports, as the bus approached Reshme Road, the door abruptly flew open while the vehicle was still in motion. The sisters, who were standing near the entrance, lost their balance in the sudden incident and were flung onto the road.

Charishma was on her way to her examination centre to appear for her SSLC public examination at the time. In the immediate aftermath, both sisters sustained injuries and were given first aid, following which they were shifted for medical attention to hospitals in Belthangady and Ujire.

While early reports suggested that the injuries were serious, later information indicated that they were relatively minor. In a display of determination, Charishma went on to attend and write her examination despite the ordeal.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
