New Delhi, Apr 1: Actor Prabhas has extended his support to longtime co-star Anushka Shetty following the release of the trailer of Kathanar The Wild Sorcerer, adding a personal touch that caught fans’ attention.

Reacting to the trailer, Prabhas described it as “riveting and promising,” praising its visuals, scale, and world-building. He also wished the team success, referring to Anushka as “sweety” — a nickname he has used since their collaboration in the Baahubali series.

The affectionate mention sparked excitement among fans, highlighting the enduring bond between the two actors.

The trailer, unveiled on March 31, offers a glimpse into a mystical world rooted in Kerala folklore. Directed by Rojin Thomas, the film features Jayasurya as the legendary priest Kadamattathu Kathanar, while Anushka plays Kalliyankattu Neeli, a powerful Yakshi.

Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer marks Anushka Shetty’s debut in Malayalam cinema, expanding her career beyond Telugu and Tamil films. The project has generated significant buzz since its announcement, with the trailer further building anticipation.

The film blends elements of European horror and gothic fantasy with Indian folklore, using extensive CGI and VFX to create a visually rich narrative aimed at a global audience. It is written by Rojin Thomas and R. Ramanand, with production backed by Sree Gokulam Movies.

The ensemble cast includes Prabhu Deva, Vineeth, Harish Uthaman, and Nitish Bharadwaj, among others.

The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release during the 2026 monsoon season in multiple languages.
